The Regional Association Ruhr as a regional authority is responsible for the registration and maintenance of the land use plan (FNP) in the association area. The land use plan is a planning instrument of the public administration in the system of spatial planning of the Federal Republic of Germany, with which the urban development of the municipalities is to be controlled.
The updating of the FNP ties up resources, as this has so far mostly been carried out by manual evaluation of orthophotos or also by on-site mapping.
In the course of the project, remote sensing methods were developed that allow the automated determination of certain object types of the underlying catalog from remote sensing data, specifically orthophotos, LiDAR data, and sentinel data.
